ACS Fundraising is Changing!
The American Cancer Society (ACS) is MileOne Autogroup’s official corporate fundraising partner. Since 2000, we have raised over $3 million to help find a cure for cancer. MileOne is one of the top 50 fundraisers for ACS in the entire Northeast Region, alongside companies like American Express, Foot Locker and Goldman Sachs.
Over the past few years, we’ve heard questions from the field including: Where is the money going? Can we designate the dollars for local ACS charities? Why are we only raising funds for breast cancer research? Can we fund more related programs?
These questions led to the realization that our relationship with ACS needed to evolve.
Starting this year, all of the money raised by MileOne will be geared toward all cancers, not just breast cancer, and will stay in each of our four local communities to fund the research at universities, hospital systems and more. We will also be funding an exciting new transportation program that offers cancer patients rides to and from treatment in Norfolk, VA and Baltimore, MD. These transportation programs will offer rides to patients from all their respective states, lifting a huge burden on patients and their caretakers.
There are a few other changes happening this year:
- Instead of pink, all collateral and apparel will have lavender accents. Lavender ribbons represent awareness for all cancers, not just breast cancer.
- We are selling raffle tickets to win a Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 in Maryland and a Nissan Rogue S in Virginia! We will be selling raffle tickets online for the first time - please share MileOneACSRaffle.com with friends and family to purchase raffle tickets. Unfortunately, we cannot sell online tickets for the Nissan Rogue S due to the raffle laws in Virginia. Online tickets sales are just for the Mercedes-Benz GLA 250.
- We will still be participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks (in both MD and VA) but will not be pulling the winning raffle ticket at the walk.
- The fundraising season is being pushed to run from September through mid-December (meaning we will be selling raffle tickets closer to the holiday season! This makes a great little gift for friends and family.)
- The winning raffle tickets will be pulled on December 17 in Virginia and December 18th in Maryland
You will all be receiving tickets to sell, along with other fundraising materials, in August.
