Car Wash Crew Finds Huge Surprise in a Loaner Vehicle!

We all try to be good people. We tell ourselves that if the opportunity presented itself we would help the little guy, stop a fight, and return that wallet on the street. We don’t always live up to our own expectations, but the exceptional car wash crew at Mercedes-Benz of Annapolis not only stuck to their moral code, but also made a customer for life.
A loaner car was dropped off at the car wash by a customer. As the members of the crew began removing debris and vacuuming, they noticed an envelope had been left behind. Upon opening it, they realized that it contained a lot of money – what ended up being $3,000. The team immediately sent one of their own, Maria, with the envelope to her supervisor.
Rodd Bowman, service director at Mercedes-Benz of Annapolis said “People leave pretty valuable things in loaner cars, and due to the quick turn-around, it’s not always easy figuring out who things belong to. This car wash crew that I have is comprised of exceptionally honest and genuinely good people. Even though $3,000 could have dramatically made an impact on their lives, they immediately turned it in.”
As Maria and Rodd tried to find out whose cash it was, the customer frantically returned to the dealership and asked if anything had been left behind in the car. He had been in a rush to drop the car off because he and his family were heading out on vacation (hence all the cash). Rodd was able to return the envelope to a relieved and incredibly grateful customer.
As a thank you for returning such a valuable commodity, Rodd and the leadership team decided to thank Maria with a gift card and note. However, upon receiving the gift card, she explained that it wasn’t just her who turned it in, but the entire team, and that we would be splitting the thank you with everyone else.
In a customer-service driven industry, it takes more than just doing your job to stand out. Maria and the car wash team have always done exceptional work.
“This car wash team is the best,” Rodd said. “I’m proud to have them as a part of the Mercedes-Benz and MileOne team.”
