MotorWorld Donates to Wilkes-Barre Police

MotorWorld's donation will secure a new police dog for the Wilkes-Barre K9 unit.
Earlier this month, MotorWorld Toyota held a donation ceremony to present a check to the Wilkes-Barre Police Department. The $15,000 donation from MotorWorld will secure a new police dog for the Wilkes-Barre K9 unit. Police dogs are an important part of the force, and trained to assist police in a variety of situations such as protecting personnel, searching for criminals, helping search and rescue missing people and searching for drugs. The last of Wilkes-Barre’s three dog force, Zorro, recently retired after undergoing surgery.
“We saw a need in our city and wanted to make a difference,” Rick Osick, MotorWorld President said. “MotorWorld is happy to give back to the community where we live and work, and hope to inspire other local businesses to support our great city of Wilkes-Barre.”
The donation ceremony, which took place in MotorWorld Toyota’s showroom, included the Wilkes-Barre Chief of Police, Marecella Lendacky. The presentation was also recently featured on television news stations and in print on Times Leader’s website. To view Times Leader’s article, click here.
A naming contest to be held for the dog, who will arrive in Wilkes-Barre later this summer, will be finalized in coming weeks. Keep a look out for the dog naming contest on the MotorWorld Toyota website.
We are proud of the great work MotorWorld Toyota and its employees are doing for their community, and look forward to hearing more about the new addition to the force!
