Barbara Schildt

This grandmother of two never thought she’d be in the position she’s in today — check out how Barbara got started in the automotive industry.
Barbara Schildt never envisioned being in the position she’s in with MileOne. A Management of Information Systems (MIS) Director, Barbara had plans to go into the retail clothing industry after she received her degree in marketing and finance. However, right around that time she stumbled upon an opportunity with UCS in Houston, Texas, which supplied computer hardware and software to automotive dealerships. For several years, she was a support person on the help desk and had the opportunity to travel to dealerships located across the country.
After leaving UCS, she joined R&H/Russel as a System Administrator and Office Manager. She officially got started at MileOne in November 1998, when Heritage and Herb Gordon were in the process of merging and Atlantic Automotive Corporation had just been created.
At MileOne, Barbara was hired to build and develop an MIS department. Under her watch, the department has grown from three people providing 10 dealerships with software support to 21 people serving and supporting hardware for all MileOne dealer groups.
A proud grandmother of two, Barbara enjoys golfing, cooking and woodworking when she’s not at her desk.
Though she didn’t plan on getting into this industry, we’re sure glad she did.
