Mark Westerman
Welcome Mark Westerman to the MileOne family. Hired three months ago as MileOne’s Chief Marketing Officer, Mark will lead the company’s marketing efforts while helping to fuel the organization’s continued growth.
Mark grew up aspiring to be in a much different line of work. In fact, he had dreams of being 6’4” and weighing a “whole bunch” so that he could play on the defensive line for the Pittsburgh Steelers. When his DNA quashed his athletic aspirations, Mark opted for a career in marketing, which allows him to use his skills in problem solving, analysis and creativity.
Mark’s first marketing job was at a high-profile advertising agency, where he was exposed to clients ranging from fast food operators to packaged goods companies to retail businesses. Working for the agency provided him the opportunity to experience creative energies that challenged him to think differently and not to accept the status quo.
Through his other marketing stops, Mark has had an opportunity to work with some of the best athletes in the world: Derek Jeter, Barry Bonds, Grant Hill, Chris Webber, Sammy Sosa, Eddie Murray and many others. From his work with these world-class athletes, he was able to obtain a valuable understanding as to how professional athletes maintain a mental edge and preserve their competitiveness – lessons that allowed him to become a better marketing leader moving forward.
Mark is a huge fan of chocolate, “real” beer and good steak. If he can focus on the chocolate, he may make weight for the Steelers’ defensive line yet!
