What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Aside from playing with our new puppy and spending time with the family, I love to play a variety of sports. I run almost every day. I play softball in the summer, and I play flag football from October through March.
What is your favorite food?
My absolute favorite food is my grandmother’s Koresh Badumjoon, which is a traditional Persian meal. I have attempted to recreate it, but it will never be as good as my grandmother’s! It translates to eggplant stew that is tomato based and is made with beef typically served over rice.
Do you have any pets? If so, please share type of animal, name, etc.
We rescued Sophia five months ago and she is a little over a year old. She is a sweet, loving, wild poodle/Pitbull mix. She loves to chase all critters i.e. frogs, rabbits, crickets, etc. She has an amazing disposition and loves kids. We are so lucky to have found her, and she owns us.
What is your favorite season and why?
Fall! I absolutely love the climate and the leaves turning colors. It is also football, chili cooking and pumpkin and IPA beer season!
What is the best place you've ever traveled to?
We found Tulum Mexico to be one of the most quint and beautiful places we have visited. From the beautiful beach, to visiting the Mayan ruins and exploring cenotes; it was truly a one of a kind town. We felt like we were truly immersed in the culture.
If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be?
It would be my honor to have dinner with Eleanor Roosevelt. She was a true advocate and pioneer for human rights and had so much influence on challenging social norms and promoting equal rights. She was a strong, highly intelligent, compassionate woman that remained committed to her cause of protecting human rights.
What is one thing you're proud of outside of work?
I am proud of the having the honor to coach kids coed flag football for 11 seasons now. I absolutely love seeing their growth from the first practice to the last game of the season. The goal is to teach them sportsmanship, football skills and to have fun.
What is a secret talent or hobby that most people don't know about?
I used to play on a woman’s professional full tackle football team for here in Baltimore. I played for six seasons and made the Pro Bowl twice, once as a receiver and another time as a defensive back. It was amazing to play a sport I love with such athletic and strong women. We practiced three nights a week after our day jobs, and travelled on the weekends for our games. Some of the women I played against in the league now coach in the NFL.
What is something you collect?
Nothing! Lol I am of the mindset to not have too much of any one thing. Therefore, for example if I buy a new pair of shoes I need to get rid of another pair. I am averse to clutter!
If you could have any career other than your current one, what would it be?
I would love to teach. The ability to help lead learning out and share knowledge that can enrich one’s life is very rewarding. When I look back on my life, the thing I am most proud of is not what I have accomplished but I have learned. I would want to do the same for others.
