Hall Body Shops Participates in Recycled Rides Program

This past summer, Lance Carson and his team at Hall - Dennis Mitchell, Joe Rial, Wade Dean, Casey Norbriga, Geoffrey Springer and Steve Garrett - volunteered their evening and weekend hours to repair a car for the Alexander family as part of the Recycled Rides Program. Samantha Alexander is a single mother of 2, an Amy reservist since 2016 and an employee at the Norfolk Navy Shipyard. She knew her family had to find a safer place to live when her neighbor’s car was set on fire and the flames from the fire burned her car as well.

Since 2014, the Hall body shops have been members of the National Auto Body Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to the mission of developing, implementing and promoting community based initiatives that exemplify the professionalism and integrity of our industry. The Recycled Rides Program is sponsored by the National Auto Body Council and helps provide families with reliable and safe transportation.

Hall is part of a collaborative process that includes Enterprise Rental Car, PPG Paints, CAPA Auto Parts and NyQuist, along with many volunteers. The process began with GEICO donating a damaged, but repairable vehicle. Then, our team of volunteers from the body shop assess the damage and donate their evenings and weekends to complete the repairs.

“This project is always very humbling,” Lance said. “It can be very emotional at times.  I have been involved with Recycled Rides for about 6 or 7 years now – this is the body shop’s 4th year. We take our cars for granted and do not realize how life altering it can be when you do not have reliable transportation. Hall is honored to have been a part of this initiative for the past 4 years helping to support the first responders and military families throughout Hampton Roads.”

We all personally benefit when we give back in ways that make a difference in our local communities. Everyone at Hall and MileOne would like to send A BIG THANK YOU to all of the volunteers and organizers.
