Hall Endowment Fund Provides Over $1.3 Million to Local Hospital

At MileOne, an important part of who we are as a company is how we give back to the community. The Hall endowment funds are a prime example of that characteristic.

"At [Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughter], working to improve the lives of our community's children is a twofold endeavor, deeply ingrained in our mission, our history and our daily work." – Jim Dahling, CHKD president and CEO

Hall founder Kenneth A. Hall believed in the mission of Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughter (CHKD). He knew the community would benefit from a health care system focused solely on the care and well-being of our children and the advancement of science in pediatric care. That is why he chose to create the Kenneth A. and Patricia A. Hall Endowment Fund for the CHKD.

Hall gave CHKD the endowment funds in 2001 and have added to it throughout the years. Upon receiving the endowment, the hospital worked with Kenneth and Patricia to figure out where best to place the funds. They decided on two specific areas to help with: community outreach and education, and treatment of abused children.

The Kenneth A. and Patricia A. Hall Endowment Fund specifically helps fund community outreach programs for the hospital, allowing them to provide the community with education on proper car seat installation and safety measures, as well as provide car seats for children with special physical needs.

The Hall Automotive Endowment Fund gives money towards the treatment of abused children. Established in 1998, the Child Abuse Program at CHKD brings the knowledge from professionals in medicine, mental health, forensic interviewing, child protective services and law enforcement together to work as a team to coordinate investigations and interventions for each child abuse case, with the goal of reducing the child's trauma and time in the legal system.

Executive Director of Development Karen S Gershman said, “This program is woefully underfunded. The endowment helps operate the center, and has allowed us to develop into one of the most comprehensive child abuse programs in the country.”

The endowment is currently valued at $1,365,692.
