Congratulations to GM Academy New General Managers
Congratulations to Matthew Kuhlman and Patrick George for their promotions from Sales Manager to General Manager as a result of their growth and leadership skills refined by participating in Hall’s General Manager Academy.
The General Manager Academy is an initiative that Chris Lark, Hall Director of Operations, created to develop an internal leadership pool to provide up-and-coming managers the opportunity to continue their growth. The 10 participants in the first session were hand selected by Chris Lark and Bill Baker after receiving nominations from the participant’s current GM. The class covers everything about the automotive industry from fixed and variable ops to accounting to get a complete understanding of the capabilities required to be a successful GM.
Less than halfway through the program, Regional General Manager Erin Bessey saw a substantial lift in both Matt and Patrick’s leadership skills and in an unusual move, but a tribute to them, promoted both prior to the end of the session. “Matt started his career at Hall 13 years ago as a lot attendant at Honda Virginia Beach,” Erin commented. “He worked his way up through the years, and ultimately I knew he’d be a perfect fit for this role. Patrick came from another auto group and shined as a GSM. Our goal with the academy was to build our bench and to be in a position to promote people from within the company and we were able to do just that.”
Matt is now the GM at Hall Acura Virginia Beach and Patrick is the GM at Ford Lincoln Newport News.
