Marketing's Holiday Activities
'Tis the season! Now that we’ve given thanks and purchased our Black Friday and Cyber Monday gifts, here comes some more fun. The marketing department has the chance to participate in two fun volunteer efforts this year. They are both located in Maryland, but if you are interested and in Baltimore, let us know and we are happy to include you!
The holiday volunteer efforts we are participating in this year are:
Salvation Army Angel Tree Program
Angel Tree is a Christmas assistance program that provides new clothing and toys to thousands of Baltimore children ages 0-12 who would otherwise not be receiving any gifts this holiday season. Children's clothing sizes and special requests are collected and transferred to paper angels, which include the child's name, age and sex, to get adopted. Last year, Heritage Toyota Catonsville donated $7,500 to purchase toys and clothing specifically for older children who are often not "adopted" in the angel selection process. This year, we are making the same monetary donation, but want to take it a step further. There is a great need at the Salvation Army warehouse for volunteers to help with organizing and sorting the hundreds of thousands of items donated that will be delivered during the angel tree season.
We are looking for a group of 10 volunteers to meet at the Salvation Army warehouse on Monday, December 10th from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm to organize and sort items. Please let Katrina know by Wednesday, December 5th if you would like to be added to the volunteer list. The first ten folks to apply will be included.
Hope Lodge Holiday Care Packages
The American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge in Baltimore offers free housing to those who travel to Baltimore for cancer treatments. This free housing is available to the patient and a caregiver and is available for an unlimited amount of time.
The MileOne Autogroup executive team is catering a dinner at the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge in Baltimore on December 17th. The marketing team will be organizing and donating Holiday Care Packages for the 26 cancer patients who are residing at Hope Lodge through the holidays to be given out at the dinner.
The plan is to head out during lunch on Wednesday, December 12 to purchase the items (paid for by MileOne) suggested by ACS. We will then build the care packages on Friday, December 14.
Please let Melissa know if you will be available to shop and/or pack the care packages no later than Friday, December 7th. We're looking for 2-3 carloads for shopping, and the more the merrier for building the packages.
Hall Volunteer Efforts
Hall is making their own holiday magic this year. The marketing team is purchasing Christmas gifts for foster kids in the Norfolk, Portsmouth and Chesapeake areas. Hall Corporate is also contributing, and Lindsay B. will be bringing all of the donations to the charity's office.
Marketing Holiday Party
This year’s marketing party will take place on Thursday, December 20th from 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm. For those who want to participate, there will be a White Elephant gift exchange similar to last year.
