MileOne Charity Funds Mobile Library Law Center

Wheels for Change, a charity run by MileOne employees and supported by CEO Steve Fader, recently donated $20,000 to fund a new vehicle to be used as a Mobile Library Law Center for the Foundation for Baltimore County Public Library.

Baltimore County Public Library launched this initiative in early 2020. Partnering with Maryland Legal Aid, the plan is to use this new mobile unit to provide free legal services to certain targeted groups within our community, including individuals with disabilities, seniors, veterans and low income families.

The services provided by this mobile unit will be based on a recognized need in some of the more underserved communities, reaching those who don’t have access to legal services due to immobility, lack of access to public transportation, lack of financial means, or other hindrances. The Mobile Library Law Center can offer assistance with expungements and shielding, housing issues like evictions and foreclosures, social welfare benefits and disability issues, family law and custody matters, and citizenship and immigration concerns.

 “Transportation is transformational, especially when helping our nonprofit organizations provide support to our community “said Steve Fader. “A lot of Baltimore residents cannot get the legal representation they might need, and this mobile library is a way to resolve that issue.”
