MileOneCares Provides Access to Safe Transportation
At MileOne Autogroup, giving back is a key component of our mission and vision. MileOneCares, our philanthropic program, is committed to creating meaningful partnerships with those who are making lives better. We focus our efforts on providing access to safe transportation, strengthening our communities, and supporting our employees, donating over $1.7 million last year in support of these efforts.
Read on to discover some of the ways MileOneCares is creating an impact in the communities where we live and work by supporting initiatives that provide access to safe transportation to those in need.
Car Seat Safety & Distribution Events
It is imperative that children are buckled up correctly and safely when traveling in vehicles. That’s why we work with local nonprofits to donate car seats to families in need, as well as provide instruction on the proper use and installation of the seats. Through our Car Seat Safety and Distribution Events, we plan to impact 1,000 local families through this program annually. For a list of upcoming events, visit our event calendar.
DRIVE SMART
There are so many distractions on the road, especially when you are a new driver. In partnership with DRIVE SMART Virginia and their distracted and impaired driving program, we visit local high schools and community events to educate individuals, especially teens, on the impacts of distracted driving through virtual reality simulators and an impaired driving cart course.
Road to Recovery
Getting to and from treatment when one is battling cancer can be impossible, especially if you don’t have friends and family to assist. The American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery Program funds rides to cancer patients traveling to treatment and since 2018, we have funded this program, providing over 11,400 rides to patients. If you know of individuals who could benefit from this program, or are interested in volunteering as a driver, have them contact Road to Recovery at 1-800-227-2345.
Vehicles for Change
Families who don’t have vehicles spend hours commuting to school and to jobs using public transportation, relying on friends or using ride shares. Vehicles for Change empowers families with financial challenges to achieve economic and personal independence through car ownership and technical training. Each year, we donate 20 cars to Vehicles for Change and they are then awarded to families in need of transportation.
