Since Workday’s company-wide launch in November, employees have become accustomed to some of the system’s features. To help everyone get more acclimated to our new HR tool, we’d like to share some lessons learned with you!
Did you know the search function can help you find other employees in the company?
Using the search function in the top left hand corner, you can search for an employee by name and view their contact information, location, manager and job details. If you’re looking for an employee’s phone number or email, check Workday first!
Did you know your inbox includes actions, archives and notifications?
By clicking your photo in the top right corner, you can access your inbox from the drop down menu. In your inbox, you can view actions you’ve taken, like requesting time off or switch tabs and view archived actions.
In the archives tab, you can view the details and process of your past actions. If you are waiting on approval for time off, in the process tab, you can view the employee/manager you are waiting on approval from.
The archives tab will show only the actions taken in the last 30 days within the drop down; however, if you need to search for a past action that has been archived, go to the Archives tab, click on the arrow to the right and choose “View More Processes.” A new window will appear that will allow you to set a Start and End date to search for actions.
Don’t forget notifications! Messages you receive through Workday will be available in the notifications tab. When you have a new message, you will see a notification bubble with the number of messages that are new and unread.
Did you know you can request different types of time off?
Through the Time Off and Leave worklet, you can request time off, view your time off balance and request a leave of absence. If you are requesting time off, you have the option of choosing the type of leave you’d like to use.
On the Request Time Off menu, under “Type” you will see a variety of choices that may include, Bereavement, Floating Holiday, Jury Duty, PTO and Unpaid Leave. Choose the type that works with your needs, and remember unpaid leave is available when needed. Reminder: time off can be taken in any 1 hour increment.
All leave and time off requests are based on manager’s approval.
Did you know you can modify your emergency contact or personal information at any time?
Using the Personal Information worklet, you can change, update or modify your personal information and the emergency contact you have listed. You can also view your personal information to ensure everything is correct. Add an emergency contact today!
