Dear Colleagues,
It sure feels like this year is moving at warp speed. The fourth quarter is already upon us and typically it’s the last three months that make the whole year. The first quarter is usually defined by weather and for the most part is the slowest quarter of the year in terms of sales — though parts and service continue to see robust business. The second and third quarters are typically very strong. Thus, it’s this quarter where the exceptional companies find their closing kick.
We have had a remarkable nine months with strong operating results, great community outreach and outstanding overall work. I want to ensure that we finish this year with the same passion and enthusiasm that have been evident all year long in sales and service.
More importantly, I want to use some of this space to write about Volkswagen. The latest situation surrounding Volkswagen is a very personal situation for us as MileOne owns three Volkswagen dealerships. My disappointment level with the leadership of Volkswagen for allowing this situation to occur could not be higher. The breach of trust with their customers and dealers is of epic proportion, but it’s too early to make any assumptions as the company is in a fight for its survival on many fronts.
At this point, we should all be thinking about every Volkswagen employee, both corporately and at the dealership level. I imagine there is quite a bit of anxiety, as there is much we don’t know and won’t know for the many weeks and months ahead. We will continue to support the brand and do what is right for our customers and employees. That’s a promise!
Enjoy the beautiful fall and I hope you, like me, are looking forward to all of the holidays and family time that this season brings. Continued good success — and let’s remember that closing kick as we march toward the end of the year!
Best,
Steve
